What Is The Russell Circumplex Model?
The Best Companies Engagement Profile builds on ‘Russell’s Circumplex Theory of Affect’, and is our snapshot methodology which measures human emotion of how employees feel at the time of the survey.
The Best Companies Engagement Profile builds on ‘Russell’s Circumplex Theory of Affect’ and is our snapshot methodology which measures human emotion of how employees feel at the time of the survey.
As part of the b-Heard survey, we ask all employees 2 statements and to place themselves on two axis on a scale of 0 to 10. The results put them into one of the 9 categories:
- On a scale of 0 – 10, please mark how you have felt at work recently where 0 = Stressed, 10 = Calm
- On a scale of 0 – 10, please mark how you have felt at work recently where 0 = Bored, 10 = Enthusiastic.
The Engagement Profile illustrates how people in your organisation feel and how engaged they are in terms of:
- Engaged – Engaged but unsure / Highly engaged
- Satisfied – Satisfied but passive / Highly satisfied
- Bored – Highly disengaged / Bored
- Anxious – Anxious but active / Highly anxious
This data is a pre-curser to exploring our 8-Factor Methodology and will pinpoint where your successes or challenges are coming from. The neutrality area / Zone 5 would be where your opportunity lies. The data will be available in your downloadable data packs from Workplace Insight Pro.
We do require a minimum of 30 responses to both questions to create the chart for an employment group. If the threshold of 30 responses is not achieved for an employment group, the engagement profile will show scores for the organisation as a whole instead.
Engagement Profile vs. Benchmarks
When viewing your scores compared to your previous survey results, the percentages in white display the proportion of your employees that sit in each of the zones, with the percentages in black showing the difference compared to the previous survey.
When viewing your scores compared to the Accreditation benchmarks, the percentages in white display the proportion of employees in each zone for the benchmark, with the percentages in black showing how far you are away from achieving the same percentage as the benchmark.
In the example you can see that the highly engaged zone is 28% of the population and showing a 2% decrease vs. the benchmark.
