What Is The Minimum Response Rate That Our Organisation Needs To Achieve?

To be eligible for accreditation and inclusion on our lists, organisations must have reached the minimum number of b-Heard survey responses.

For reporting on any survey, it is important that the returned data is representative of the overall population. At Best Companies we take great care to only report where sufficient data has been returned to provide a good level of confidence that reporting will be consistent with the overall sample.

The invariable rule is that higher survey return rates are always better, as this will provide a more comprehensive representation of how your employees feel in regard to their engagement.  We can never be certain that employees who fail to return the survey feel the same way as those who did return it.

Organisations will only be eligible for accreditation and places on our lists, if at least 20 employees have submitted valid survey responses and the following minimum response rates have also been achieved.

Minimum response rates required to be eligible for accreditation

Regional lists

To be eligible for a place on any regional list, the greater of two response rate criteria will need to be satisfied. The first is that the minimum number of surveys to be completed and validly submitted for a given region must not be less than 20, and the second is taken from the table above where the percentage response rate for the organisation’s total UK headcount will be required to have been achieved in a region for that region to be eligible.

Examples:

If the organisation has a headcount of 25, 26, or 27, then a minimum of 20 responses would need to be submitted for them to be eligible for the national and sector lists. A minimum of 20 surveys would also be required to be submitted within a region to be eligible for that regional list. If an organisation has a national headcount of 28 and they all work within one region, then they would need a minimum of 21 responses to be listed nationally and / or regionally (75% return rate).

If the organisation has a national headcount of 74 employees, with 25 of those employees working in the North West and 49 in Wales, then at least 44 surveys (60%) would need to be validly submitted to be eligible for a national or sector list, 20 surveys from employees within the North West to be eligible for the North West list and 29 surveys completed and validly submitted from employees in Wales.
