Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring additional verification methods to access an account.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security system that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource, such as an application, online account, or VPN.

Rather than relying solely on a password - which can be stolen, guessed, or leaked - MFA requires additional evidence to ensure that the person trying to access the system is legitimate.

How to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

In order to ensure the security for all our users we enable MFA by default to increase security and provide an overall user-friendly experience.

Upon accessing the various sites we use MFA for you will be greeted one of the below:

You should firstly download an Authenticator app (we recommend the Microsoft Authenticator), once downloaded scan the QR code and follow the steps to set up authentication on your device.

Once the QR code has been successfully scanned using your Authenticator app you will be asked to enter a verification code provided to you by the app.

Disabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your company

If a Project Manager should wish to disable Multi-Factor Authentication then this can be done through your survey dashboard, simply click your profile icon in the top right corner and select "Settings"

From here you have to choice to either enable or disable MFA, one thing to be aware of is that our MFA solution is company wide, meaning that this cannot be simply turned on/off for one specific person.

FAQ's

  • A user has lost their phone - If in the event someone is unable to access their authenticator app, due to losing their phone or forgetting a password, etc - then you can advise the user to contact us via the support@b.co.uk email, we can then reset the authentication token so that the user can restart the authentication process.
  • A user could be potentially using their camera to scan the QR code - Advise them to download the authenticator app first, or their existing authenticator app, then use the feature within the app to scan the QR code.

  • The users code has expired - The user can easily re-generate this within their authenticator app.

  • MFA is not working or giving me a code - In the first instance we would recommend trying to open the site in an incognito tab, sometimes issues can be caused due to caching, however if this does not work and you still cannot login then you can contact us on the support@b.co.uk email and we can advise further.
