How Does Employee Comment Analysis Work?

Understand what your employees are saying by viewing employee comment data segmented by factor and themes using machine learning technology.

Comment Analysis has been introduced to make digesting your employee’s comments easier and provide insight into what areas your employees are talking about when answering the three open ended questions:

  • What would make this a better workplace?

  • What makes this a great workplace?

  • What can your organisation do to support you at this time?

The Comment Analysis does this by segmenting your employee’s comments into two sections:

  • By workplace factor

  • By specific themes

Machine Learning technology has been used to analyse each employee comment and determine what parts of a comment are talking about a specific workplace factor and / or theme. Dependent on what is being talked about in an individual employee comment and how it has been analysed, the comment can be allocated to multiple workplace factors and/or themes.

How accurate is it?

As part of training the data model for Comment Analysis, accuracy levels have been calculated to ensure the insights provided are as correct as possible:

  • Allocating employee comments correctly to a workplace factor 81% accurate*.

  • Allocating employee comments correctly to a theme. 97% accurate*.

Why have not all of my employee’s comments have been categorised?

Based on the testing we estimate 60%* of employee comments will be allocated to a workplace factor or theme. The reasons for this are:

  • What employees are saying in their comments may not be related to a specific theme or workplace factor

  • The comment analysis is not confident enough to allocate the employee comment to a specific theme or workplace factor 

You will still be able to access and export all employee comments by clicking the ‘View all comments’ button, so any comments that have not been allocated to a factor or a theme (or both) will always be available.
